How to measure your container

A label should sit on the straight part of the container, clear of the shoulder, the base and any seams.

  1. Fill and close one container.
  2. Measure the straight wall between the shoulder and the base curve.
  3. Take 3 to 5 mm off for the label height.
  4. Wrap a paper strip round it for the circumference.
  5. For a wrap, take at least 10 mm off the circumference.

What if my size is not listed?

Send the measurements or a photo next to a ruler. We suggest a size on the proof and check it before anything is printed. The full guide to jar and bottle label sizes has more detail on wraps and tapered tubs.

Questions

More answers in Help, or call +44 7578 382054 or message us on WhatsApp.

Are these label sizes fixed options?

No. They are typical starting points. We print any size you need.

What label size suits a 30 ml dropper bottle?

Around 50 x 25 mm, on the straight wall below the shoulder.

How big is a standard shipping label?

100 x 150 mm is common for parcel fronts.

What size seal suits a paper bag?

A 40 mm circle usually crosses the fold firmly.

Do you round the corners of rectangular labels?

We can, and a 2 to 3 mm radius helps labels stay flat on curves.

Can a label be taller than the straight wall of a jar?

It should not be. It would crease over the shoulder or base.

What size label suits a candle tin lid?

A circle a few millimetres smaller than the lid, such as 60 mm on a 65 mm tin.

Is there a size limit on labels?

Very large or very small labels are quoted case by case. Ask with your measurements.

Should I give width or height first?

Either, as long as you say which is which. We confirm it on the proof.

How accurate do my measurements need to be?

To the nearest millimetre. We check the size again on the proof.
